Weekend Wrap – 2017-02-13

Phil and Danny react to all of the football action from this past weekend in the Premier League and ask if Michael Keane is the real deal. They also discuss some bad decisions by the officials and debate whether or not the referees and their assistants need even more technological support to make sure they get their decisions right. Plus they touch on the idea of Diego Simeone taking over at Arsenal next season and offer their opinions about whether or not he would be a good fit for the club and vice versa.

Steve Nicol

Phil and Martin are joined by Liverpool legend, ESPN FC commentator, and author of “5 League Titles and a Packet of Crisps“, Steve Nicol. The lads discuss what has gone wrong with LFC’s recent form, what adjustments Klopp can make, and what the club’s summer window shopping list should look like. As always, Steve pulls no punches and tells it like he sees it.

Clarke Carlisle

Phil is joined by former England U21, Burnley, Blackpool, and QPR defender Clarke Carlisle to discuss his battle against depression and his 2 attempts at suicide. In an honest and riveting conversation, Clarke reveals how he felt during his lowest points in his life and talks about how he got back on track and is now trying to help others who are in a dark place in their lives. He also speaks about how his upbringing factored into his inability to share his depression with others and some of the ways he uses to combat feelings of depression. Clarke has now started The Clarke Carlisle Foundation for Dual Diagnosis and is trying to do his part to make depression and mental illness something we are all more willing to have an open dialogue about so that those in desperate need can get the help they deserve.
